Every Algonquin- man, woman, and child,- had a job in the community. There were also jobs that applied to everyone, such as taking care of the elderly, cleaning the longhouse, etc.
Men were in charge of hunting. Many mornings, at sunrise, the hunt would leave. Every time they killed an animal, they would thank it, and apologize for taking its life.
Women worked harder than men, as they hunted, cooked, gathered, planted, harvested, and took care of the children. Their hunts would not require them to leave the village, as they mainly fished. To cook, the would smoke the food. See more on "Food" slide.
The children would help their parents, assisting in the hunt and gathering plants. They would also be taught discipline.
